WHO?

Leila is a 25 year old writer, composer and comedian from South Wales.

Leila’s new musical comedy, RELAY, will premiere at the 2025 Edinburgh Festival Fringe at the Pleasance Courtyard. The production is part of the Pleasance Edinburgh National Partnership, presented in collaboration with the Sherman Theatre.

In 2023, she made her Edinburgh Fringe debut with a sellout run of her musical comedy hour ‘Composition’. It was met with critical acclaim – ‘an eye-catching introduction to a comic of promise’ (Guardian). The show then transferred to Soho Theatre, where it was dubbed 'a debut full of charm, originality and promise' (The Telegraph).

Described as 'the actual future of comedy' (LMAOnaise), her television and radio stand-up credits include Comedy Central Live (Comedy Central), BBC New Comedy Awards (BBC Three), Live at Aberystwyth Pier (BBC One Wales), Loose Ends (BBC Radio 4), Stand-up Sesh (BBC One Wales), and The Leak (BBC Radio Wales). She is bilingual, with Welsh Language credits including Ffyrnig (S4C) and Ni y Nawdegau (BBC Cymru). She has provided tour support for Jessica Fostekew, Laura Smyth and Nish Kumar.

In 2021, she co-wrote and starred in the BBC iPlayer series 'Vandullz'. It was met with acclaim, dubbed 'an engaging character-driven comedy' (Chortle). In 2022, she voiced the role of ‘Claire’ in the hit channel 4 dark comedy series ‘Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared’.

Since being invited into BBC Writersroom - Welsh Voices in 2017, she has written on shows including Never Mind The Buzzcocks (Sky), Yesterday Today and The Day Before (Comedy Central), United Kingdoms (BBC Radio 4), BAMESHOW (BBC Radio 4) and Tourist Trap (BBC One Wales).

Recently named a 'breakthrough writer' by BBC comedy, she wrote on the reboot of Jack Whitehall's 'Bad Education' and Spencer Jones' new ITV comedy series 'Deep Fake Neighbour Wars'.

She has multiple projects in development with various production houses across UK.
